Amazon Kids is a service that offers families access to a catalog of over 20,000 movies, books, audiobooks, and games as well as multiple ways to use parental controls to limit screen time and kids’ access to unapproved content.

Amazon FreeTime was rebranded as Amazon Kids in 2020 and the services have been redesigned to include Amazon Echo integration, a new home screen experience as well as an expanded catalog of music and video content.

How does Amazon Kids work?

There are two types of subscriptions for this service: Amazon Kids and Amazon Kids+. Both tiers allow users to create a personalized experience for a child’s device.

Parents can create a free child profile and share content from their Amazon library to make them available for their children across supported devices on the free plan. This is a free service that allows parents to create profiles for up to four children and set time limits and educational goals while also having access to complex parental controls to filter web browsing or block some websites altogether.

Amazon Kids+ (FreeTime Unlimited) is a paid subscription that offers access to a large catalog of family-friendly premium content that is made available to up to four children’s profiles across supported devices. Parents can also share content from their Amazon library to their children’s profiles. The subscription has all the parental controls features of the free plan, but the difference is that it comes with premium content such as apps, books, games, videos, audiobooks, and add-free radio stations for children.

There are no ads or in-app purchases included in any of the apps available via Amazon FreeTime Unlimited.
