We put together a quick guide with everything you need to know about getting a refund on Amazon.
What is the Amazon refund policy?
Most items purchased on Amazon have a 30-day return window. It’s always worth checking it for your specific product, as some products may have a different return window based on seller or product category.
How do refunds work for Amazon Prime?
If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you qualify for free returns and refunds on most items delivered directly from Amazon and from sellers on Amazon Marketplace. Items that qualify for free returns and refunds have “Free returns” listed next to the price.
You can be issued a refund on the credit or debit card you used to make the purchase, or you can opt for the balance to be added to your Amazon account for you to use later on other purchases.
Depending on the item you’re returning, you may be offered an instant refund option. This means that you’ll get your money back instantly, but you’ll still have to return the item within 30 days.
Refund requests are typically processed quickly, but it may take 5 to 7 business days to see them on your card statement.

While there’s no rule that entitles you to get a refund if the price drops on Amazon, you can try to speak to customer service to get the difference back. While in some cases they may say yes, your best bet is to return the item for a refund during the 30-day return window and then purchase it again at the lower price.
