If you have an Apple Watch, you may have noticed a water drop icon appearing from time to time. So, what does the water drop mean on Apple Watch? It indicates that the Water Lock feature is enabled.
The Water Lock feature locks the watch when you’re swimming or taking a shower, so you don’t activate the screen accidentally or get water inside the watch. Since the Apple Watch is water-resistant but not waterproof, the Water Lock feature comes in handy.
Water Lock activates automatically whenever you start a water-based workout such as surfing or swimming, but you can also turn it on manually in the Control Center. When the feature is on, you’ll see a water drop icon at the top of the screen.
If Water Lock is enabled and you see the water drop icon on your watch, here’s how to turn it off:
- Start turning the Digital Crown in any direction. You will hear some sounds and there could also be some moisture on your wrist.
2. Continue turning the Digital Crown until you see a message that lets you know that the water has been ejected from the device and the Apple Watch is unlocked.
