If you have a Spotify Premium subscription, you can use an offline mode workaround in order for two people to listen to music at the same time.

For $14.99 per month, you may also subscribe to a Spotify Premium for Family plan, which allows up to six distinct profiles on one account and lets each person on the account listen anytime they want.

Spotify also launched a “Premium Duo” subscription that allows two people residing at the same address to have their own premium account for a fixed $12.99 per month.

How to allow two people to listen to the same Spotify account at the same time

1. Subscribe to Spotify Premium Family

The simplest method to accomplish this is to sign up for a $14.99-per-month Spotify Premium for Family subscription. This plan is more expensive than a typical Premium plan, but it allows you to share your account with up to five family members.

The plan includes all of the same benefits of standard Spotify Premium, including ad-free streaming, the ability to download songs for offline listening, and more, but for as little as $2.50 per person.

Everyone on the plan must live in the same place. Spotify will check this by asking you for your home address when you set up the plan.

2. Enable Offline Mode

Another option for allowing two people to listen to the same Spotify account is to enable Offline Mode, which is available to all Premium customers, not just families.

Offline Mode on Spotify allows you to listen to any songs or podcasts you’ve downloaded to your device, but you won’t be able to play any new music. Offline Mode, on the other hand, allows you to listen to music without bothering or being disturbed by others.

It’s similar to turning off your device – Spotify won’t know you’re already streaming, so it won’t prevent someone else from joining in to listen on the same account.

Here’s how to enable Offline Mode:

1. Log in to a Spotify Premium account and begin listening to Spotify on a device.

2. Click the three dots in the upper-left corner of your PC. Hover your mouse over “File,” then select “Offline Mode” from the drop-down menu that appears.

3. On a Mac, select “Spotify” from the menu bar at the top of the screen, followed by “Offline Mode.”

4. Go to the “Home” tab at the bottom-left of the screen on an iPhone or Android device, and then hit the gear icon in the top-right corner. Toggle the “Offline” switch at the top of the following page after selecting “Playback.”

5. Begin listening to the music you’ve downloaded.

6. Even if someone else begins listening to that same Spotify account, it will have no effect on your activity.

7. Offline Mode can be turned off in the same way it was activated.
